A very beautiful fifties cocktail dress that is well made and striking. Made by Seymour Jacobsen, the dress is made of a combination of silk and appliqued netting. The skirt is a full cut silk faille and I love how the fullness is derived from the flat, sharp pleats set on each side of the waist but under where the curve of the waist is defined. This technique leaves the front and back skirt with slightly less fulness so you have a sleek, lean feel but with a full skirt still. The bodice is spectacular with black netting over a nude underlay. The netting then is appliqued with a design made of chiffon cording and further accented with tiny black beads. Very sleek and chic. Excellent condition The bodice is lined in a nude silky rayon and the skirt has an inner layer of black tulle. It closes with a painted metal back zipper.
